Timing career conversations to the first 18 months yields outsized results

My research across multiple organizations has shown that career development conversations are a powerful retention tool for top performers.  Employees who have a career development conversation are 200% more likely to stay at their organization than those who don’t.

But, the timing of the conversation matters as much as having the conversation.

When the conversation occurs in the first 12-18 months after an employee joins the organization, they stay about two years longer.  Read more about why timing matters and what to say in these critical conversations.
